What is needed in order to start the class for teens?

All that is needed to start the class is the parent or guardian’s signature on the contract and a down payment of at least $200 . The remainder of the payment has to be submitted by the end of the classroom portion of the course

What happens if the certificate showing completion of drivers ed is lost?

There is a $25 fee for replacing a lost certificate showing completion of the course.

How old must a student be to take the teen class?

A student must be at least 14 to take the class. However a minimum age of 15 is required to complete the full course and receive the class C permit. Drive times may only be given after the student has received the permit.

DRIVING TEST

TEENS UNDER 18, OR ONES WITH COMPLETED DRIVERS-ED PROGRAM FOR 18 AND UNDER, CAN SCHEDULE THEIR DRIVING TEST AT OUR SCHOOL.

DPS REQUIREMENT FOR TAKING THE ROAD TEST AT THE DRIVING SCHOOL: MUST WATCH

‘IMPACT’ VIDEO, APPROXIMATE 2 HOURS, PRINT THE CERTIFICATE, PRIOR TO TAKING THE DRIVING TEST. YOU MUST TAKE YOUR DRIVING TEST WITHIN 90 DAYS OF WATCHING THE VIDEO. AND MUST BE 16 YEARS OLD AND HOLD YOUR PERMIT FOR 6 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE TEST.

THE COMPLETITION PAPERWORK WILL BE GIVEN IN A SEALED ENVELOPE AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN TO DPS OFFICE. THE DPS OFFICE WILL CHARGE A SMALL FEE FOR PICTURE AND FINGERPRINT SERVICES AND PROVIDE A DRIVERS LICENSE. IF A STUDENT FAILS THE TEST , THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO TAKE THE TEST 2ND AND 3RD TIME.

Do you have to give the original documents (birth certificate, Social Security Card)?

You will not have to turn these in to us
but they will be necessary when you go to the DPS to get the instruction permit.

After completing the course, what is the procedure for getting the license?

When the course is completed and all the money is paid, We will issue a DE-964 (a certificate showing completion of drivers ed).

After the student has held his/her permit for 6 months and is 16 years of age then a trip is made to the DPS. Student is supposed to take a driving test at DPS or OUR DRIVING SCHOOL and when they pass the driving test, DPS will issue the student their license.
